I will overwhelm 'serious fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to publicize the upcoming boxing match.

Ex two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I plan to damage his features and damage his physique. I'm here to prove I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I will seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."

Civil Interaction

In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to talk badly about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Still, the novice remains one of boxing's biggest money-making draws, frequently receiving massive paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and asserted he would prevent the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.

"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the traditional face-off, with their size difference evident, it emphasized just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
